We have been hard at work on many different things while we stayed fairly quiet, and today we want to share some big news with you all!

GAME MECHANICS Raptor Rework ‍
After receiving a lot of feedback about how Raptor feeling unrewarding to take compared to other objectives on the map, we are now introducing a new Raptor system that intends to give it an identity outside of the favor system. Raptor will now grant four buffs, with the buffs received depending on how many raptors the killing team has taken. These buffs are team wide and will stay with the player for the duration of the game, while still giving a reduced amount of teamwide favor. We have also added in an endgame raptor intended to help teams finish out prolonged games, called the Alpha Raptor. GENERAL Optimization With this patch, we have taken another step towards optimizing Fault with a memory and map pass. As always, we will continue to take feedback regarding player experience and work to improve the feel for all players as needed.
Skins We have built the foundation for implementing skins with their own VFX and SFX.

GAME MECHANICS General Low Health Camera Effect
  • Reduced the low health camera effect so that it takes up less of the screen, based on player feedback.
Damage Taken Indicator
  • Changed the damage taken indicator around the players crosshair to only show when a turret or an enemy hero damages the player.

We wanted Crunch to be very dynamic and fluid to play, so a lot of attention went into nailing down the feel of weaving abilities and basic attacks together in succession. Patch 0.15.3 hits servers today at 3PM EST!

This patch is the first update in what we are calling the "clean up" phase of development.

While we continue to push content such as new heroes, cosmetics, and balance, we will be focusing heavily on squashing as many bugs as possible leading up to our FTP release.

There will be no server downtime for this patch, if the update does not populate for you, simply restart your Steam.

General Optimization
We have performed a large optimization overhaul on the map to help correct fps issues with this patch. We will continue to monitor this issue on all ranges of player PC's and push fixes as needed.

Unreal Engine 4.27
We have recently moved Fault to the newer version of the Unreal Engine!

This change comes with many benefits to development and is another step towards improving the overall feel of our game. Updating to 4.27 was needed for some future large-scale plans that we hope to share with you soon.

Fault Free Weekend Event

Strange Matter Studios are hosting a free to play weekend starting December 17th!

The event will run from 1 pm EST on December 17th until 1 pm est on December 19th.

Price Reduction We stated at the beginning of our EA journey we would have a price reduction of our game leading up to Free To Play.

CONTENT AI Game Mode

Solo vs PVE and Co-op vs PVE game modes will now be available for players. In Solo vs PVE, players will be able to queue up with themselves or a part of premade players, filling up any empty spots with AI. Coop will use Fault's matchmaking system to fill in any missing party slots with other players also looking to queue up and play with others against AI.‍

New accounts will now have to play PVE Game Modes until they are level 5, at which point they will unlock PVP. This is aimed towards helping new players learn the basics of Fault without having the additional stress of having to play against other players looking to play in a more competitive environment.
